From the past to the present day on Lake Martin. If I were asked to give just one amazing fact about Lake Martin, one of Alabama’s favorite lakes, it would be difficult.
Having said that, The Alabama Power Company recently released some figures that really do surprise even the most optimistic Lake Martin fan. I am one of those fans.
It seems that in the late 1980’s the APC’s estimate of annual visits to Lake Martin was in the neighborhood of 2.68 million—–yes—Million.
Are you ready for this???? In 2017, the Alabama Power Company’s primary and secondary data estimated the number of annual visits to be…..26.6 MILLION!! That is an increase of nearly 1,000%. The time span is about 30 years. Still, those figures are impressive and amazing no matter if you are a fan or not.
